A Growing List of Democrats Who Will Skip The Convention

We have been keeping track of super delegate no shows at the Democratic convention. It all started in West Virginia when Governor Earl Ray Tomblin, Senator Joe Manchin, and Congressman Nick Rahall noticed that Obama was only slightly more popular in West Virginia than a jailbird in a federal pen and decided to stay home. Then two representative from upstate New York, Bill Owens and Kathy Hochul announced that they too couldn't bear to leave home. Later Congressman Mark Critz of Pennsylvania told his fellow Democrats that he was expecting an emergency that week and Congressman Jim Matheson of Utah, who voted yesterday with the Republicans to repeal Obamacare, will be staying home to catch up his fly fishing. Senator Claire McCaskill probably wet her pants the last election when Obamacare was on the ballot in Missouri and almost 70% of her constituents voted against it so count her out. In Kentucky lame duck Governor Steve Beshear wants to be remembered fondly so he will stay home along with Congressman John Yarmuth from eastern Kentucky where they have race horses and coal mines and 40% of primary voters like uncommitted better than Obama. Congressman John Barrow of Georgia will sit this convention out. Two Congressmen, Larry Kissell and Mike McIntyre won't be able to make the trip to Charlotte and they're from North Carolina. I'll run the totals so you don't have to. It's two governors, two senators and seven congressmen. Unprecedented party unity!

  2. Good luck with that. Even NASCAR had no luck with unloading the Obama brand.
