Jesse Jackson Jr Takes Medical Leave

According to his office, Jesse Jackson Jr. is really jammed up. At first we were lead to believe that the congressman was suffering from exhaustion, an enigmatic malady, usually associated with the entertainment industry and often confused with drunkenness and substance abuse. Now from his office;
“Recently, we have been made aware that he has grappled with certain physical and emotional ailments privately for a long period of time,” the statement reads. “At present, he is undergoing further evaluation and treatment at an in-patient medical facility. According to the preliminary diagnosis from his doctors, Congressman Jackson will need to receive extended in-patient treatment as well as continuing medical treatment thereafter. We ask that you keep Congressman Jackson and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult period.”

Hmm, "certain physical and emotional ailments". It's a safe bet that this is more serious than bed wetting but let's not rule anything out. To begin with, I'm always suspicious of press releases written in the passive voice. "We have been made aware" sort of brings to mind a world were things just happen to people and other people hear about them and write press releases. It's like the public is getting the inside dope from the Book of Revelations. I think they're trying to tell his idiotic constituency that Jesse is in rehab.
With a hereditary personal turpitude, a below average intelligence quotient, and a penchant for self indulgence Jackson has become the almost stereotypical blue state, big city, politician in the mold of a John Conyers or Charlie Rangle. Who better to represent a city that lamely accepts ten or more shooting deaths each weekend, every weekend, than a jacked up crack head? Yes, the voters of Illinois' second congressional district got exactly what they deserve.
 It is no surprise that the Democratic leadership has jumped to Jackson's defense.
“The man said that he is exhausted; even Christ has to step away from the multitudes in order to refresh,” said Congressman Bobby Rush. “He is very wise to do that.
“To me, it’s not a big thing. His health is what’s more important right now.”
Yes, we should all try to be more Christ like in our actions but resting seems to be the congressman's forte.
From Democratic consultant David Heller who has worked on Jackson campaigns;
“The thing with Jesse is that he loves people so much,” Heller said. “When I see him out there in his district mingling with people, he comes across exactly the opposite. He comes across as energetic, enthusiastic and excited about his opportunities in Congress.”
Loves people so much? and excited by his opportunities in Congress? Is he talking about the affair with his staffer and his opportunity to testify about his involvement in the Blago's pay to play scheme before the House Ethics Committee? That is exciting.
"From the outhouse to the White House", " From Operation Push to Anhuiser Busch", Jessie Jackson Sr. who parlayed a career as a run of the mill race hustler to owner of one of Illinois' largest beer distributorships notes that mistakes are made by those who try.
“I don’t know anyone who has a clean uniform who has done anything more than sat on the bench,” the elder Jackson said. “You fight through those challenges, and he is doing it with great poise.”

Right, Dad, and soon Junior and Nancy Pelosi can get back to draining the swamp wet lands.
