Operation Fast and Furious (Update)

(Update 18:08 Tues.)  After a short meeting tonight lasting about 20 minutes, Congressman Issa and Eric Holder, Attorney General have reached an impasse.  Unless something changes between now and tomorrow, Congress will vote to hold Holder in contempt of Congress.

Today, Tuesday, is the day that Congressman Issa has agreed to meet with Eric Holder, Attorney General.

After months of stonewalling Congress, Holder, under the threat of Contempt was ordered to provide the 140,000 documents that his department had been withholding concerning the sales of guns by the ATF to the Mexican drug cartels. The botched caper, known as Operation Fast and Furious (Gunwalker), has led to the deaths of two Americans and at least three hundred Mexicans. What agreement, if any, reached today will determine the fate of Mr. Holder.

On another front, the National Border Patrol Council — the union that represents 16,000 Border Patrol agents around the country — demanded Attorney General Eric Holder’s resignation over Operation Fast and Furious on Monday.
