Skittish Leftists worry about Obama

So all week we've been hearing conservative and liberal pundits alike explain that Obama "won" the third debate on "points" particularly since Romney did not challenge him.
Apparently now "winning" by "scoring points" means being abusive, sarcastic and condescending.
When the opponent acts more presidential than the POTUS, it's hard to conceive the POTUS as "winning on points." So one might ask, in this poisonous enervating environment, what exactly does it mean to win?
Yet in the days following the actual debate, a number of people are enthused about Romney's strategery in being assertive in debate number one, combative in number 2 and  stately in debate number 3.
And indeed Libya does need to be on the table; here's hoping Romney deals with it at some point soon as the issue heats. Bush was notorious for letting Dems get away with illegal, slanderous and atrocious acts without responding. Here's hoping Romney doesn't follow that path.
But in a larger perspective, Romney won the "shadow life" of the debate, a term Sven Birkerts uses to describe the after effects of reading a book, described here:
“I often find that a novel, even a well-written and compelling novel, can become a blur to me soon after I've finished reading it. I recollect perfectly the feeling of reading it, the mood I occupied, but I am less sure about the narrative details. It is almost as if the book were, as Wittgenstein said of his propositions, a ladder to be climbed and then discarded after it has served its purpose.”
The "ladder" of the debate was climbed and discarded; the shadow life is what remains.
Just as with the Ryan/Biden debate, the reassuring impression of Romney as a serious leader hovers in memory, with the irksome and vicious Obama nipping at Romney's heels like a pitbull trained to hard scrabble. Truly, we got to see the real Obama.
The preference cascade referenced earlier continues, as record crowds have shown up for Romney in Nevada and Colorado, whose electoral votes are highly prized.
Thus we come to David Letterman, who adores Obama but who last night confessed to (of all people) Rachel Maddow that he's disappointed that Obama lied during the debates.
Apparently Letterman has missed all the other lies Obama's told over the years.
  Watch the misery here:

That these people are at last beginning to crack regarding their unflagging loyalty to Barack Obama is exhausting, considering that the man has been masquerading as a leader for years, with little fealty to the country or the job he's supposed to be doing.
Considering that Barack Obama's only "grilling" is on the Comedy Show, Leno, The View, Pimp with a Limp, People, and Us Weekly and he's never been held accountable because of press neglect, what's happening now as the Obama campaign implodes is a product of the benevolent Leftist media's own making.
Barack Obama's been basking in his own glowing shadow life which was created by a benign neglect; now it's only fair that we have a (somewhat) level playing field for his opponent.
It'd just be nice if everybody played by the same rules.
