Kirsten Powers Slams Panetta Over Benghazi Debacle

My opinion of Kirsten Powers has changed over the years or perhaps she has changed. In 2009 she was squarely behind Obama but no longer. This is one of the more impassioned criticisms of the handling of the Benghazi killings I've seen.
Everyone with the IQ of an eggplant knows that the decision to hang the ambassador and the other Americans out to dry was Obama's decision. The decision to deploy combat troops into a sovereign nation would have to come from the president and in this case the president voted present. If, as Panetta says, this decision was made by himself and Generals Dempsey and Hamm the first thing Romney should do after he is sworn in is to demand their resignations and order a board of inquiry to see if they should be court-martialed.
We do put troops in harms way even when we do not know all of the variables. We sent firemen into the World Trade Center and over 300 of them perished yet should such a catastrophe occur again we would do the same.

Kirsten Powers: How much better information do you need than watching it live? That's my question. I mean by their own accounts there's a drone over them watching it unfold. So I don't understand this idea that they don't have access.
Bret Baier: They say there's a lull in the fighting, They say they think it's over.
Kirsten Powers: You have a CIA agent who gave his life because he was so convinced that the ambassador was in danger. I mean this is so outrageous. I cannot even understand that people are not more...here is a man who went and gave his life. He was so sure that this was going on. He made phone calls and was told to stand down. That's all you need to know. This man gave his life, going to try to save this ambassador. Why did he that if, there, if he didn't know what was going on.
In a post I did earlier today Jennifer Griffin reported that "... There were no communications problems at the annex, according those present at the compound. The team was in constant radio contact with their headquarters. In fact, at least one member of the team was on the roof of the annex manning a heavy machine gun when mortars were fired at the CIA compound. The security officer had a laser on the target that was firing and repeatedly requested back-up support from a Spectre gunship, which is commonly used by U.S. Special Operations forces to provide support to Special Operations teams on the ground involved in intense firefights."

From a former Delta Force Operative comes this information:
Having spent a good bit of time nursing a GLD (ground Laser Designator) in several garden spots around the world, something from the report jumped out at me.

One of the former SEALs was actively painting the target. That means that Specter WAS ON STATION! Probably an AC130U. A ground laser designator is not a briefing pointer laser. You do not "paint" a target until the weapons system/designator is synched; which means that the AC130 was on station.

Only two places could have called off the attack at that point; the WH situation command (based on POTUS direction) or AFRICOM commander based on information directly from the target area.

If the AC130 never left Sigonella (as Panetta says) that means that the Predator that was filming the whole thing was armed.

If that SEAL was actively "painting" a target; something was on station to engage! And the decision to stand down goes directly to POTUS!

So an armed drone or C130 was dispatched and Obama, probably on the advice of Valerie Jarrett, called it back? It will be a long time before the voters ever trust another Democrat with the presidency.
