Ranking our RINOs

It's my post so I get to make the rules. The Congressional Quarterly has released its Presidential Support Rating. (Percentage of recorded votes cast in 2013 on which President Barack Obama took a position and on which the senator voted “yea” or “nay” in agreement with the president’s position.)
I'll go through the list of Republican senators and identify the the Super RINOs, the RINOs and the squishy centrists. A squishy centrist receives recognition by voting with the President more than 40% of the time. A RINO by my definition is someone voting with Obama more than 50% and a Super RINO has a 60%+ support rating.
Super RINOs
  • Susan Collins, Maine, 76%, Lisa Murkowski, Alaska, 72%.
RINOs
  • John McCain, Arizona, 59%, Jeff Flake, Arizona, 56% Johnny Isakson, Georgia, 54%, Rob Portman, Ohio, 54%, Orrin Hatch, Utah, 53%, Lindsey Graham, South Carolina, 52%, Bob Corker, Tennessee, 51%, Mark Kirk, Illinois, 51% Thad Cochran, Mississippi, 50% Kelly Ayotte, New Hampshire 50%.
Squishy Centrists
  • Richard Burr, North Carolina, 49% Saxby Chambliss, Georgia, 48%, Roger Wicker, Mississippi, 48%, Lamar Alexander, Tennessee, 47%, Dan Coats, Indiana 45%, Mike Johanns, Nebraska, 45%, Dean Heller, Nevada, 44%, John Thune, North Dakota, 44%, John Hoeven, North Dakota, 43%, Pat Toomey, Pennsylvania, 42%, Deb Fischer, Nebraska, 40%.
Conservative Honor Roll-Less than 35%
  • Jeff Sessions, Alabama, 34%, Pat Roberts, Kansas, 34%, John Cornyn, Texas, 34%, Mitch McConnell, Kentucky, 33%, Rand Paul, Kentucky, 31%, David Vitter Louisiana, 31% Jim Inhofe, Oklahoma, 31%, Tom Coburn, Oklahoma, 31%, John Barrasso, Wyoming, 31%, Ted Cruz, Texas, 30%, Mike Enzi, Wyoming 30%, Mike Crapo, Idaho, 29%, Tim Scott, South Carolina, 29%, James Risch, Idaho, 27%.

So much for the myth of independent Democratic Senators. Nineteen Senate Democrats voted with Obama 100% of the time and 15 Senators 99% of the time. So called conservative Democrats Mark Pryor of Arkansas and Joe Manchin of West Virginia voted with Obama 90% of the time. Faux independents Angus King of Maine and Bernie Sanders of Vermont voted with Obama 97% and 94% respectively.

  1. Excellent post. Boy, that Jeff Flake is a real disappointment. He went on Glenn Beck, talked real conservatism and then turned into a RINO. The trust issue raises its ugly head again in reference to any politician.

  2. This post took a lot of time. I was going to rank House members too but that would have taken forever. Naturally the House faces an entirely different set of votes but Jim Jordan and Trey Gowdy have an 8% presidential support ratings.
