New well in Harrison County "is by far the strongest well that Gulfport Energy has ever drilled,"

The new top dog of Ohio Utica wells is Gulfport Energy's Wagner 1-28H well in Harrison County. It has the ability to produce 14 million cubic feet of dry natural gas and 1,881 barrels of natural gas liquids (after processing), along with 432 barrels of oil, per day according to estimates provided by the company. When the measurements are equalized, those numbers are 54 percent higher than the initial production from Ohio's best known Utica well, Chesapeake Energy's Buell well, which is less than 20 miles northeast of the Wagner well. In April I wrote that a single well in Harrison County (the Buell) was for a time producing 2% of Ohio's natural gas but that was then. Chesapeake Energy's Buell well is great but the Wagner well is simply spectacular.
James Palm, CEO and director of Gulfport, was effusive with his praise when talking to analysts during a conference call earlier this month.
"I can say without a doubt that our Wagner well is by far the strongest well that Gulfport has ever drilled," he said.
