Three Agents Involved In Fast And Furious Get Promotions

What would happen to you if a program under your responsibility was judged to be dangerous? So dangerous that it in fact resulted in a death? If all that happened was you got fired you would count yourself lucky. That's why you should consider government service where even serious screw ups result in promotions. The LA Times is reporting that three BATF supervisors involved in Operation Fast and Furious have received promotions.

"The three supervisors have been given new management positions at the agency's headquarters in Washington. They are William G. McMahon, who was the ATF's deputy director of operations in the West where the illegal trafficking program was focused, and William D. Newell and David Voth, both field supervisors who oversaw the program out of the agency's Phoenix office."

It would come as no surprise if agent Newell is eventually charged with perjury. Members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee are reported to have said his testimony was false, inaccurate, and misleading. In the meantime he has a new gig in DC.
