What is with Michele Bachmann? Flubbing Elvis' birthday isn't so bad but skipping the Sunshine State straw poll in Florida makes one wonder if she wants to move beyond regional candidate status. Her campaign announced that she would not be participating in the poll even though she will be in Orlando for the FoxNews debate only a few days earlier. According to the Bachmann camp the campaign can't afford the expense but poll organizers say there is little expense.
"This isn’t Iowa, where a campaign, in order to win, has to bus in people. We are talking about delegates who already paid their way." said Brian Hughes, Communications Director for the Republican Party of Florida.
Maybe there is method to this apparent lack of courage but Bachmann and her campaign manager, Ed Rollins are going to have to quell a host of questions from the press and the other candidates who do enter.
