DOT Backs Off Drivers License For Tractor Drivers

It looks like the Department of Transportation is backing off requiring tractor operators to get a commercial driver licenses. "We are absolutely not requiring farmers” to obtain commercial licenses, such as those required of semi-trailer operators, said U.S. DOT spokeswoman Candice Tolliver in Washington, DC. Top dog at DOT, Ray LaHood chimed in,
“We have no intention of instituting onerous regulations on the hardworking farmers who feed our country and fuel our economy,” Gee, how could Governor Perry have been so wrong about this? Even Iowa Senator Charles Grassley thought it was in the works. My guess is the DOT had every intention of slipping in this onerous regulation through until they heard the blow back coming from Perry and thousands of others.
