While U.S. Sen Dick Lugar and state Treasurer Richard Mourdock already have been slugging it out for months ahead of the May 2012 primary election, state Sen Mike Delph, R-Carmel, has begun hinting he might join the race. Delph has his conservative credentials in order with endorsements from the NRA, the American Family Association, and the Indiana Chamber of Commerce also he gets good marks from Tea Party Tribune. He is, in my opinion, a more conservative candidate than Mourdock but his entry into the race at this late date would all but assure Dick Lugar will be re nominated. If he really must roll an incumbent, Delph could challenge Rep. Dan Burton, R-Indianapolis and that would be sound contribution.
