It took a little longer than I had predicted but Obama has reached a new low in the Gallup daily tracking poll. For the first time ever Obama is below 40 percent. It will not get better. Sure one day it might climb a point or two but the trend is downward. His approval rating has hovered in the low forties and reached a high of 53 percent after Osama bin Laden was put down. With a steady backdrop of criticism coming from the candidates in the Iowa straw poll, Obama struggles to mount a defense. One benefit of a hotly contested Republican primary is the daily barrage leveled from several candidates.
