Conservatives strike back through humor

Something interesting has been happening in the conservative blogosphere.
It's discouraging watching the shenanigans of people like the Occupiers, the  stupid "war on women" meme, and the lies of the likes of Nancy Pelosi.
We seem to have become such a polarized nation that no one can sit down and cheerfully talk about our differences without screaming epithets and false accusations.
Although now that I wrote that, I have to admit that I (being the political persuasion that I am) think the Left is far more accomplished than the Right at screaming invectives.
Being conservative isn't easy in a permissive culture that has so many temptations for free stuff, especially without commitment, hard work or sincerity.
All around us are people committed to ridiculing conservatism in all its forms. And, being conservatives, we quietly simmer, read and watch intently, only recently venturing into the world of politics, both local and national.
The whole ridicule process is something the comedians are very good at.
I mean, seriously. Does ANYBODY believe that the Preezy of the United Steezy didn't have high paid accomplished comedy writers working on all those lines for him? Yeah, so all he has to do is stand there and deadpan his message about giving away something else free.
Like a skinny Howdy Doody jumping around on strings saying what "his people" want him to say, the Preezy pretty much does whatever he wants, all the while sticking his middle finger up at those who disagree with him.
But conservatives seem to be learning something they've been unfamiliar with in the past.
  Case in point.
Younger, funny comedians have appeared on the scene. Naked DC. Greg Gutfield (Red Eye). Stephen Crowder. Treacher.
Just as liberals have descended into the most bizarre behavior (Occupy, "war on women," Warren, Julia) ridicule is becoming a weapon of choice for conservatives.
Thus Romney's dog on the roof became a hilarious series of tweets
Obama's new campaign slogan of "Forward" which bristled with socialist and communist historicity become fodder ("How did you bend at tax time? Forward.")
Elizabeth Warren's attempt to scorn Scott Brown for doubting her "Indian" heritage? Who said the "high cheekbones" of "Indians" was her family's indication of her background? Fauxcahontas. (Admittedly she was pretty good at self destructing on that one.)
Obama introduced  the fictional campaign tool Julia, a sketch of government dependent female who is without any support from any male from birth to grave, and immediately the conservative blogosphere went into overdrive. YOU'LL be supporting Julia for the rest of her life. We look Forward to that?
Obama's girlfriend (from the past, of course) is revealed to be a "compression"  (which the MSM conveniently relabels as "composite"), the web and Twitter are ablaze with tweets about Julia being the object of "compression."
When the MSM tried to dignify Occupy Wall Street, which was rampant with anti-semitism, filth and crime, by comparing it favorably to the Tea Party, which they had depicted as a despicable racist astroturf movement, an army of amateur videographers and photographers were unleashed, strolling through the encampments recording the real history.
Paul Ryan has attempted to write a rational approach to reducing the deficit in a sensible way, thus offering himself as a target to the big spend liberals who haven't bothered to write a budget in three years and have only spent more and more with apparent impunity.
So what does Emily Zanotti of Naked DC do?
She starts the whole Paul Ryan as heart throb meme which spread like wildfire over the internet.
Conservatives and Tea Partiers have reason to be encouraged. Real change is slow and doesn't happen overnight but the inroads that are being made are significant, not to mention that the stodginess of the mainstream Republican controllers are being bumped aside for new leaders.
Though working within the system for a time is difficult (they all want their stuff...their parking spots, their prestige, their perks), November 2010 is a harbinger of things to come.
Conservatives, and particularly the 20 somethings and the Grey Panthers, have stepped up their game.
Progress on our side is being made. We have to stop now and then and acknowledge that, remembering that liberals own the media, Hollywood, academia and much of the business world.
  We're fighting back.
The hooting's only going to get louder, stronger and longer.
