My brother-in-law sent me this video clip which I uploaded to Youtube. It is reassuring that at least at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier the government is still committed to enforcing respect.
You'll notice part of the discipline of the Old Guard in the clip. Before he speaks, he does two things: 1. He steps off the path; and 2. Brings his weapon to the Port Arms position ...a position of readiness. Even in the desire to return the visitors to the respectful attitude, it is given as a request, respecting those who are present.
