Powerline considers Breitbart

The granddaddies of blogging at Powerline put the Breitbart kerfuffle into perspective, with references to Taranto at the WSJ. It's a pretty interesting read and comes to Breitbart's defense, as many liberals and conservatives have taken a few facts out of context and abandoned Breitbart.
Witnessing the behavior of Sherrod, as extensively discussed here previously, at the banquet ("his own kind" ....Republicans are racists who don't like a black president) only tells part of the story. Her behavior this week reveals much.
She had 24 hours or less of discomfort, perhaps pain, when the video was released; after having her job (or an alternate) reinstated within a few hours, she made an extensive round of appearances on numerous talk shows airing her grievances, demanding to talk personally with the president, complaining that Fox News was racist for covering the story, even though Fox did not even air the story until long after she had been fired.
Indeed, the conclusion that O'Reilly jumped to was the same conclusion that the NAACP (who had full possession of the entire tape) and the White House jumped to.
Yet Fox is racist and the others are not?
In addition, she wants Big Government shut down.
Does that sound like a benevolent, freedom loving, patriotic American to you?
Unfortunately the nation was then subjected to a blubbery, sycophantic press conference by Vilsack in which he appeared to be begging her not to sue him ("She's a good woman who has been put through hell."....for a few hours....If that's all there is to hell...)
You can find a timeline here and this commentary:
Media Matters, Huffington Post and the rest of the Progressive blogosphere and Lame Street Media are attempting to paint collusion between Breitbart, Fox News and the Conservative blogosphere on this story. Oddly enough, this comes just as we have the Daily Caller story about how the Progressives used a web forum called Journolist to collude againstFox News, John McCain, Sarah Palin, the Tea Party, Rush Limbaugh and others. Imagine that! Me thinks she, Shirley, and the LSM, doth protest too much.
This last point is quite interesting. Just as the collusion between MSM and liberal writers is revealed, the left begins squealing about collusion between the conservative media.
  Read at Powerline here:
Andrew has become a target of opportunity in the current affair involving Shirley Sherrod and the NAACP. The enormous weight of the Democrat-Media complex is seeking to crush him. One sees in Politico's"Breitbart: I am public enemy number 1" that Andrew understands precisely what is happening and that he declines to accept the role that has been assigned him in this shadow play. See also his performance on Good Morning America yesterday with George Stephanopoulos and left-wing Media Matters hack Eric Boehlert (video below, report and transcript here).
Breitbart defends his position here on GMA:

Listen to Shirley Sherrod here. She claims Breitbart is a racist who wants all black people to go back into slavery. Again: does she sound like someone who doesn't consider race any more?
