Absolute abdication of responsibility on the oil spill

The following article sums up the behavior of US government officials regarding the Gulf cleanup. Rather than accept help, as has been much documented here and elsewhere, the government rejected expertise from nations who were eager to help protect our marshlands. For example, rather than use the Dutch ships to "clean" the water by sucking it in, siphoning out the oil and then spitting it out rather clean, the government rejected the proposal because the cleaned water was not clean enough according to environmentalists' standards. This is a ridiculous situation for which the administration takes absolutely no responsibility. Rather than waive the Jones Act and accept help, the US government demanded that the workers be American union jobs, whether they have the expertise or not. This article is a must read, as it includes details we did not have previously.
