Marco Rubio donor goes off the "civility reservation"

It's evident the Republican donor class is losing its grip as it becomes clear that the best of all probable outcomes from their point of view is the nomination of Ted Cruz. The worst case of course is Trump but one presumes that they figure they could eventually get their hooks in Cruz but never the independently wealthy Trump. It was not that long ago that Republican mega donor  Foster Friess suggested a "civility reservation" . Claiming to have the backing of Sheldon Adelson and Chicago Cubs co-owner Todd Ricketts Friess wrote, " "Would you join the effort to inspire a more civil way of making their points? If they drift off the 'civility reservation,' let's all immediately communicate that to them."
No longer is the nomination framed as a battle between moderates and conservatives but rather a struggle between the establishment / donor class that worries uncivil deportment would irremediably damage the Republican brand and the Rhett Butler faction as in "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn," everyday working class voters who are too concerned about their own economic survival to worry about the health of the party. It gets worse than. At one point there was a move to block Trump from the debates. California vintner John Jordan tried to organize a debate boycott.
"Someone in the party ought to start some sort of petition saying, 'If Trump's going to be on the stage, I'm not going to be on there with him,'" Jordan told the AP on Monday. "I'm toying with the idea of it."
"It's something I feel strongly about as somebody who not only cares about the Republican Party, but also Latinos," Jordan said.
Of course the party base, not as in need of cheap labor as Jordan, doesn't care about Latinos as much, preferring to focus on their declining standards of living.
Foster Friess, please call you office. One of your sainted donor class has wandered off the civility reservation. The anti-Donald Trump sky-writing at the New Year’s Day Rose Bowl parade in Pasadena, California was paid for by Marco Rubio's sugar daddy, Luther Stan Pate IV. The PAC, WeThePeople Foundation was apparently formed to hide the money source of this assault on Donald Trump as according to FEC records it was formed on 12/29/2015. The sky writing caper was a relatively expensive operation. It required multiple planes to write each of the several messages which included "Trump is disgusting", "Anybody but Trump", "Trump loves to hate" and “Iowans dump Trump”. How very civil!
It doubtful that Rubio was privy to this frat boy insult beforehand but it's also doubtful that Trump take that into consideration. There will be hell to pay.

  1. They're really going off the reservation. The more they squirm and manipulate, the longer the Trump lines get.
