In keeping with Hoosierman's theme of celebrating Ohio's comeback, we might add that the accomplishments of the Kasich administration are impressive with the passage of the Ohio budget. What's most impressive, however, is his attitude about the subsequent low numbers he is polling, which are natural considering the boats he is rocking.
The $8 billion shortfall is gone; we will have to see what happens with school budgets, etc. around the state and how the systems will thrive without the structures that had been in place previously.
Fred Thompson interviewed Kasich on Hannity the other day. The following is audio of that short interview:
Kasich says he's not spending time worrying about the low poll numbers, but rather trying to create a state that is receptive to business (and not just dependent on government stimulus money to create industries such as the solar industries that are subsidized by the feds).
Cuomo in New York is accomplishing similar feats, but you don't see much in the way of protests because he's a Democrat, a patently dishonest liberal mentality to only protest Republicans who try to rectify the messes left by previous Republicans like Taft and Democrats like Strickland.
It would be nice if unionists could figure out that the survival and longevity of their pension systems are dependent on the restructuring and diminishment of public debt. That the huge number of baby boomers entering the retirement years cannot be sustained by the younger work force. That their future depends on government administrators who are willing to tell the truth about the money problem in this country.
So here's to telling the truth.
And here's to Governor Kasich, who's willing to suffer through low poll numbers to do what's right for the great state of Ohio.
