Eat your peas president threatens your allowance

So you're out enjoying the beautiful summer day. Blue sky. Breeze. Lake water lapping at your feet.
Then you hear the threat *yet again* from The Clueless One that he's going to take away something if you don't do what he wants.
Honestly, these people really are insufferable.
Do this. Don't do that. We're changing the way you fundamentally live!!! We're taking away this or that!
Now The Pompous One (the one whose budget was voted down by every senator) declares that, if the debt ceiling isn't raised by July 22 or August 2 or something, the checks won't go out to veterans and old people on August 3. Yahoo:
"I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on Aug. 3rd if we haven't resolved this issue. Because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it," Obama told CBS's Scott Pelley in an interview set to air tonight on the CBS Evening News.
Does he SERIOUSLY believe that WE BELIEVE that they put the money in the government's bank the day before they mail the checks? Does he SERIOUSLY believe WE believe there is nothing to cut?
And what the heck is HIS plan anyway?
Rush had great insight on this today.
You know, I'm gonna ask it again, why have a debt limit if it doesn't matter?  Every time we approach one we get this damn crisis we gotta raise it.  Why have one in the first place?  Why have a debt limit?  Why not just get rid of it?  Why not just say, "You know what, we never stay within the limit.  There is no limit.  We're just gonna get rid of it." This number's arbitrary.  This number's BS.  The new debt limit that they're talking about will get us through another 13 months, then we'll be back here again in the middle of the presidential campaign.  I look at this headline from the Hill:  "Debt-ceiling Talks Hit Brick Wall as President Obama, GOP Trade Jabs."  Isn't that what a debt ceiling is supposed to be?  It's supposed to be a brick wall.  That's what the debt limit is.  We're not going to exceed this.  If it isn't, why even bother to have one?  Why go through all of this?  We go through all of this to eventually embarrass and defeat the Republicans.  That's why we go through all of this.
Rush's interview with Senator Rubio was quite revealing too:
SENATOR RUBIO: Sure. He can stop it right now by basically saying, "You know what, we need to do something to grow our economy. Let's pass tax reform. Let's pass regulatory reform."  He can stop this by also starting to implement some of the spending measures we think are necessary. He can also stop it by basically prioritizing spending on certain things if it comes to that.  But let me tell you one thing, Rush, that no one said yet or maybe they have, the fact that payments on Social Security and Medicare may stop is a stinging indictment and a wake-up call. What Americans should realize, "Hold on a second, my Social Security check and my Medicare benefits are borrowed? The money that you're using to pay for my Social Security are borrowed? I thought I paid into a trust fund.  I thought I worked my whole life to pay into some system and now you're paying my money back and you're claiming that the money is being borrowed?" That's what they're basically conceding when they're saying this.
RUSH: Yeah. You know, that's exactly right.  We always thought Social Security was in a lockbox.
SENATOR RUBIO: Well, maybe a Chinese lockbox because that's what we're borrowing the money from. The point is if that comes to pass or he's threatening to do that, then the wake-up call and the message to Americans is, hey, your Social Security benefits, your Medicare benefits, what we're paying soldiers in the field, all these things that are being cut off, this is borrowed money.  This is not money we have or money we saved for you. This is money we are borrowing from your children and your grandchildren, and we have no way of paying it back, and that alone should send a chill up the spine of millions of Americans.
So all the money that was supposed to be in a lockbox was BORROWED?
Good point, Senator Rubio. Good point.
