DOJ Is Undermining The Second Amendment

p>Shortly after the President took office Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Attorney General Eric Holder began repeating the 90% falsehood. They claimed that 90% of the weapons captured from Mexican drug gangs had originated from legal
gun sales made in the United States. This was never remotely true. First, Holder and DOJ selected the types of guns to be submitted to the BATF to be traced-not all guns captured by Mexican law enforcement. Second, the percentage of guns that did originate in the US and submitted to BATF is more like 8%. It is illegal and always has been illegal to sell fully automatic firearms in the US.

"Through Senator Grassley's office Fox has obtained a number of internal ATF emails that seem to suggest that ATF agents were counseled to highlight a link between criminals and certain semi-automatic weapons in order to bolster a case for a rule like the one the DOJ announced yesterday".

The image at the top of this page implies the BATF seemed eager to provide antidotal evidence that guns captured at crime scenes were part of multi-gun sales. Of course they were but the BATF facilitated these sales. Now that the BATF has created an awesome and tragic problem, DOJ implements the solution that requires gun dealers in border states to exercise more rigorous reporting of gun sales. The administration is hinting that Obama will soon issue an executive order germane to gun sales. The gun control lobby is enthusiastically endorsing this assault on the second amendment, an amendment that is part of the Constitution that Barack Obama swore to protect and defend while purposely contriving to undermine it.
