Dems sabotaging The One, the Lightbringer?
Hm. Speculation that The One, the Lightbringer, is being sabotaged by insider/s, reviewed over at Director Blue.
After talking up -- some called it 'leaking' -- the forthcoming May job numbers last week, the President was dissed when the Bureau of Labor Statistics released a truly depressing report. The President's predictions were covered by all of the major wire services including Reuters, the Associated Press and AFP, which resulted in wide play nationwide. When the real number was released on Friday, it proved a stunning humiliation for the White House. After removing the Census and other "make work" numbers, the private sector actually shed 226,000 jobs last month. The stock market reacted with a violent downturn as the DJIA shed more than 300 points.
Take that in addition to the WSJ's article by Fred Barnes that Obama wants to get rid of Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House because it would benefit him in an election bid for 2012 and you see trouble brewing. Fred is a respected thinker and writer but it's difficult to believe that Obama wants to lose his huge majority in both Houses. It is true that Clinton did much better once the Republicans took over Congress, particularly because once again there was balance in the government and Republicans, for a while, took seriously the charge of balancing the government's checkbook. It's no doubt that he'd stab any politician, Dem or Repub, in the back if it'd get him what he wants.
In Washington these days, President Obama is rumored to be hoping Republicans capture the House of Representatives in the midterm election in November. There's no evidence for this speculation, so far as I know, but it's hardly far-fetched. If Mr. Obama wants to avert a fiscal crisis and win re-election in 2012, he needs House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to be removed from her powerful post. A GOP takeover may be the only way.
