House Foreign Affairs Chairwoman Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida has introduced a bill that would block funding of any UN agency that elevates Palestine to a state. The bill has 74 cosponsors but no bipartisan support. Not a single Democrat has signed on. The Obama administration has denounced the bill saying it would undermine its policy. The lack of Democratic support probably means the bill is doomed even if it passes the House since it most likely be taken up in the Senate where Sen. Kerry has promised to oppose it.
Apparently there were no lessons learned by the Democrats from the New York 9 election.
