Assassination theories seem never to die and the pending release of the Jackie Onassis tapes will reveal that she believed then-Vice President Lyndon Johnson was involved in the plot to murder her husband, John F. Kennedy. Younger readers probably don't realize that this theory surfaced shortly after the assassination and enjoyed a nether life somewhat like the "truther" and "birther" theories. When the tapes were made Onassis wished that they not be released until 50 years after the assassination but Caroline Kennedy, has agreed to release the recordings early from a vault at the Kennedy Library in Boston. The move is believed to be in exchange for ABC’s cancellation of its multimillion dollar-drama series about the family, starring Katie Holmes as Jackie. More.
