One would think the Republicans would have to be crazy to nominate Jeb Bush. Observe the chart below. It is derived by plotting several dozen polls. The longer the public looks at Bush the worse it gets. No one wins general elections when a majority of the public doesn't like him. Worse yet he is trending down.
So if the Republicans would lose with Bush how would the Democrats fare with Hillary? She too is underwater. Notice she started to slide steeply in the polls about the time of the 2012 elections and the Benghazi attack. With
a federal judge having issued an order requiring the State Department to make public batches of the former Secretary of State's emails every 30 days it's doubtful her numbers will recover as that scandal deepens.
