More On Obama's Anti-Catholic Mandate

I know the full effect of this policy have not begun to be felt. Opposition to this mandate lends itself easily to the Republican primary where Mitt Romney's wishy washy stand on abortion is not going to help his chances with Catholics. Clearly Catholic Rick Santorum has the inside track on this issue but Newt Gingrich has been the most vociferous critic of the Obama administration's bigotry toward all except Muslims religion. As noted in the video Marco Rubio has sponsored legislation that would overrule the HHS regulation but most likely Harry Reid will keep it coming up for a vote. Watch Speaker John Boehner make sure every congressman has to take this vote. Should the case go to the Supreme Court it will be interesting to hear the questions in the oral arguments from the six Roman Catholic justices. This only furthers the possibility that should the Court strike down the individual mandate it would throw out the entire law and may even cause Justice Sotomayor to do some considerable soul searching. She has no record of deciding an abortion issue and is viewed with some suspicion by liberals on that issue.

Clearly political PACs sympathetic to the Catholic Church could have a field day with this issue. They could raise a tremendous amount of money and by running adds in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Wisconsin do in both Obama and many down ballot candidates including three senators. Even in blue states such as New York some Democratic congressmen could lose their seats if the PACs ran their adds selectively. Remember we were told Anthony Weiner's seat was true blue. I almost view this issue as a belated Christmas present. See Michelle Malkin's excellent First, they came for the Catholics:
