The troubles with dependency is that it becomes expected. Somehow all the obligations are shifted to the donor from the recipient. The recipient, or dependent, feels a sense of entitlement to the donor's continued largess. Planned Parenthood is heavily dependent on state and federal largess and also on organizations such as the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Here CBS, under the pretense of delivering the news, engages in editorializing, opining that the Komen Foundation decision to quit supporting the dependent Planned Parenthood is political. What if is is? The Komen Foundation doesn't owe Planned Parenthood the time of day. If the Komen Foundation elects not to give money to people who are under investigation that's probably good business and good PR. If it's not then let the Komen Foundation worry about.
All non-profits, including Komen, are dependents. They depend on the donations they receive. Those donations may come in the form of grants or from individuals or businesses.

Maybe you should depend a little more on knowledge as you seem to not understand what charitable giving is all about.

ReplyDeletePlanned Parenthood does NOT provide mammograms. Komen said they are not using PAS THROUGH providers anymore, in addition to the fact that PP is under investigation.
So it's quite logical that Komen would drop PP, whose primary mission in life is to kill babies.
