A former Democratic state representative who served with Perry in the Legislature, Ron Wilson said, “He doesn't’t have a racist bone in his body,” Dallas Democratic Senator Royce West, who is black, “I don’t agree with him on policy issues, but you can point to many things he has done that were sensitive to ethnic minorities.”… Rick Perry named the first black to Texas state supreme court and later elevated him to chief justice.
