The Republican candidate who will get my vote is the candidate who promises to sue every DOE loan recipient into personal bankruptcy and see to it that our Nobel Prize winning Secretary of Energy is doing hard labor in Leavenworth until he is 90. The latest example of public corruption, crony socialism, and governmental ineptitude is Fisker Automotive whose apparent
mission is to provide earth friendly baubles for the rich and famous. Fisker Automotive had two things going for it-a design and a connection to green giant, Al Gore. It had no manufacturing plant or dealer network. I does not plan to build its own power train or lithium battery. It purchased a closed General Motors plant in Delaware which it says it will use someday but for now the Fisker Karma is being built in Uusikaupunki, Finland. Not surprisingly this is Henrik Fisker's first venture into manufacturing. Fisker obtained a $529 million from DOE's
Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing loan program. Fisker and DOE justify the out sourcing to Finland with the "There was no contract manufacturer in the U.S. that could actually produce our vehicle." Contract track manufacturer? What the hell did the taxpayers get for their money? At $96,895 Fisker Karma does serve a social purpose. Hollywood celebrities and the ultra rich, who want to display their green credentials, no longer have to be stuck with a little econobox.
