Ohio pols update

So Mary Ellen Withrow, former Ohio democrat treasurer, is on the air accusing Josh Mandel of bigotry, citing the Columbus Dispatch as a source. She doesn't really explain the bigotry; she just shows pictures of Kevin Boyce, Mandel's opponent, who is black.
So if you trot on over to the Dispatch, you can read that the source of this accusation is Joe Hallett, a name familiar to Northwest Ohio. RightOhio has lots of complaints about Hallett as does Conservative Blogwatch. Hallett's politics have never been hard to discern, as is true with most media people, but to accuse Mandel of "scumminess" because he pictures in his ad the people to whom he is opposed is ridiculous. Once again, just as yesterday we noticed Sharron Angle was being accused of being racist because she picture Latino-looking males crossing the border in the middle of the night in one of her ads on illegal immigration, what we have here is desperation, flailing to turn everything into a race issue.
This is the nadir to which we have descended. Facing formidable opposition numbers or even decent competition, democrats have to use the race issue to discredit their opponents.
In fact, the Ohio democrat party has filed an ethics complaint. Mandel has refused to pull the ad.
Once again, Willie Horton is pulled out of the grab bag as a specter to scare off Republicans from saying anything too close to the truth. Mandel is described as "Jewish," in every article, and is accused of trying to make Boyce look Muslim, since the fellow Boyce was involved with was Muslim.
And so it goes. This is truly the silly season.
Here's some GREAT news about Rich Iott. In his latest email, this is what Iott has revealed:

Never underestimate an underdog!
Marcy Kaptur and career politicians in Washington, D.C. tried to write this race off - but with 26 days left, we're in a position to win. Several polls are showing this race within the margin of error!
Portman has a 14 point lead at Real Clear Politics.
Kasich is up 4, considered a tossup.
Tom Ganley, a good candidate at district 13, is a tossup.
