Kay Hagan Asks Holder To Go After NC Photo ID Law

Do Democrats not take the Supreme Court seriously or do they think the Court has forgotten that just last term it struck down the section of the 1964 Voting Rights Act forcing Southern states to get approval from the DOJ before they can change voting laws? Remember the fit Eric Holder threw when Texas enacted a photo ID law the day after the top court threw out that  provision of the law.
Senator Kay Hagan of North Carolina has written to Holder asking him to overturn NC's photo ID law. Yes, Kay is "deeply concerned" although in her personal case she has no reason to fear. The law will not take effect until 2016 and she is up for election next year.
She has much to worry about in the next election. Not only did Romney carry the state but North Carolina voters elected a Republican governor and a Republican controlled legislature. The Rothenberg Political Report rates her seat as "toss-up/ tilt Democrat" which could be worse but not encouraging when the whole state seems to be trending red.
