Since the recall petitions were released to the public by the Wisconsin Government Accountability, numerous errors, duplicates, and fraudulent names have been uncovered. A thorough review and database entry project is being conducted by the campaigns of those being recalled as well as an independent effort called Verify the Recall.
This is just one more reason to remain deeply skeptical of the number of signaturesbeing reported by the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. Or more accurately, four more reasons to remain skeptical.Apparently one man entered false signatures of his family members numerous times. Nice guy. Like to be a fly on the wall at that Easter dinner.
Then there's the guy who claimed to have signed 80 times:
A man told 12 News that he has signed as many as 80 petitions to recall Gov. Scott Walker. The man had the following exchange with 12 News' Kent Wainscott on Thursday:Man: "I think I signed about 80 times."Wainscott: "You've signed 80 petitions, you think?"Man: "I signed a lot of them for the past two weeks. I've been seeing them at the Grand Avenue Mall. Out here by Pick 'n Save and stuff like that
Fraud has been suspected for weeks, which is why Verify the Recall came into being. Some of the other errors are listed here:
After an initial, naked-eye look at just a handful of the Scott Walker recall petitions, numerous errors were quickly revealed. It will ultimately be up to the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board to determine how carefully they enforce their own rules, but below is a list of just 16 pages that were found this morning that could be determined invalid. This libertarian sums it up well:
So far, we have seen duplicate signatures, commercial addresses listed as domiciles, non-existent addresses, residency outside the district, residency outside the state, residency outside the country, and residency outside the galaxy - E.T. apparently wants Walker gone, too.So watch this triumphant video again, if you haven't already, and realize that most of this is based on phony lying cheating fraud. Does it remind you of another triumphal, defiant, arrogant nakedly political act against the people?
And these are the signatures that the Democrats certified and the GAB accepted. Hard to imagine what you have to do to get one tossed.
We have seen signatures with no date, dates that are too early, dates that are too late, dates crossed out and changed later by someone else. For folks who demanded a court overturn Act 10 over the number of minutes of notice given before a legislative committee hearing, the Walker-stalkers sure don’t mind giving themselves a wide berth when it comes to telling time.
We have seen circulators fill in information for petitioners, mask the name of the person being recalled, certify before the start date, certify known fraudulent signatures, forge signatures themselves, bribe petitioners, entice underage petitioners, and fail to complete their own circulator information as required by law.
When you see all the people protesting and getting involved it is specious to say that the whole Recall Walker movement is a fraud. Yes, I am sure there are fraudulent signatures. Some of them were done by ignoramuses who really didn't understand the process, but it is safe to say that a fair share have been done by Conservatives trying to sabotage the movement. Walker supporters have created websites encouraging people to burn the petitions and many conservatives have blatantly said that they are going to pretend to be recall volunteers and have people sign fake petitions. Why is this not mentioned? I am sure some of the signatures will be removed because of fake names, addresses, forged signatures etc. But, there will still be more than enough to hold a recall election. It is unbelievable how the Tea Party and other GOP radicals want to talk about "integrity." Perhaps, you should take a look at your own people?
ReplyDeleteYes, but do you realize what you're arguing? You're saying those trying to save Walker's job, who was elected fairly and legally, are guilty of deceit to keep him in his lawfully elected position.
ReplyDeleteCheating of any kind is wrong but you have to know that the unions are guilty of terrible thuggery and cheating to get what they want. I guess I have trouble believing people who are protecting the duly elected governor would be willing to sacrifice their integrity to keep him in office.
The other, not so much.
I was truly horrified by the behavior of the protesters, many of whom consider themselves "professional," in Wisconsin. The way they treat Walker, who won, is despicable. To treat state property the way they did was also despicable.
