Should someone be fired the Solyndra debacle? Damn straight someone should and we the Tea Party should set about firing every GOP congressman who ran on the promise of cutting $100 billion from the current budget. We remember how that number that was whittled back to $60 billion and eventually they managed to trim some $300 million because there was nowhere to cut. And yet at the end of the current fiscal year DOE Secretary Steven Chu had $4.75 billion to dole out to Democratic friendly "green jobs" companies. Come on GOP, we knew in the beginning that we would probably have to fire until we got it right so don't come crying for a second chance. We were also promised effective oversight yet you allow the Department of the Interior to slow down drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and to perpetrate an abusive and flagrant misuse of police powers by raiding the Gibson Guitar Company. Agents from the Fish and Wildlife Service burst into the Nashville factory with gun drawn and herded employees into the parking lot a gun point. If any agency treated the Occupy Wall Street freaks with such contempt Congressmen Kucinich, Ellison, and Lewis would be clamoring for Eric Holder to put aside his gun running scandal and be about business of protecting the rights of the unemployable, and while Nancy Pelosi can moo about their "spontaneity" the silence from Speaker Boehner on the Gibson raid is deafening. Come on GOP grow a pair! Now don't tell us you can't go after the Department of Interior's budget. Perhaps a 10 to 25 percent cut would get their attention.
On August 22 I posted the video below showing some youthful demonstrators being arrested for selling lemonade on Capitol grounds. Compare how these demonstrators were treated to those arrested protesting the XL Keystone pipeline. Today we find they are facing a year in jail for selling lemonade. Well six month for that and another six month for refusing to furnish a urine sample. It's the Capitol Police and there is nothing Speaker John Boehner can do about it? Yes it's time to fire someone!
Oh, man, are you RIGHT on this one! My fear with Boehner is that he is accustomed to being in the minority and not up to the task of cracking the whip. That's one thing about Newt....not my favorite though these days.
ReplyDeleteI screwed up this post. I lost focus. The point I wanted to make about Pelosi and the Democrats is they will publicly back the worse vermin on Wall Street but neither Boehner nor any other Republican will stand up for the employees of Gibson who were treated very badly or these kids selling lemonade. Hell, Marcy is four square behind the OWS and Betty Sutton has already made a pilgrimage to Zuccotti park.
