To most of in the lower 48 Sarah Palin has literally been a voice crying in the wilderness. Crying for commonsense so we know the right things to do and courage to do those things. In her latest FaceBook posting Sarah refers the readers to a post the was posted on NRO's The Corner blog on December 17, 2010. In that post she warned that the rating agencies were threatening to downgrade our debt. Several months ago I wrote that Sarah Palin contributed more to the Obamacare debate with her FaceBook account than the entire Republican National Committee. One quick point about Sarah Palin. We know from her FaceBook post and thousands of released emails that she thinks for herself and organizes her self without help. In Obama's case there is not one written or printed bit of evidence that Obama can spell his children's names. Maybe he did write two books and maybe one or both was ghost written but the public has not seen so much as a grocery list in the President's own hand. It did see an entry in a guestbook and then he got the date wrong.
I would quibble with Sarah Palin about her FaceBook posts. As good as they are I wish she would switch to YouTube. Watching her speak is sheer joy. She has the endearing ability to smile while she is speaking seriously. When she is on attack one can see the fire in her eyes. When she is ridiculing an opponent her eyes actually giggle, her cheeks dimple and he lips struggle to hold in her laughter until she releases the punch line. Her ridicule of Obama during her acceptance speech was serious but hilarious. She took Obama apart like she was tearing the wings off a fly. When she appears on television she frequently critiques a budget plan or proposed legislation put forth by the Democrats as if were something dreamed up by Ralph Cramden in the old Honeymooner television series. It's not contemptible it ridiculous and ridiculously funny. She speaks very down to earth commonsense English, a style that has gone out of vogue in Washington a half century ago.
Contrast Sarah's style to Obama's. Obama who was once touted as the next William Jennings Bryan doesn't speak but rather reads to the American public. Lately I've noticed an annoying cadence he has gotten into maybe because his writers like short choppy sentences. It is almost as if one can just dub in " I would not could not in a house" chin juts upward "I would not could not with a mouse." chest out pigeon breasted style. Robotic is not the right word to describe his gestures. Maybe battery powered by Mattel or some horrid incarnation of the Energizer Bunny is closer. Yeah, he just keeps going and going and going. Chin up chest out. Chin up chest out. Obama's oratorical skills remind me of the countless rookie pitchers we were told would be the next Nolan Ryan two weeks into his first season who was sent down by the All Star break. He didn't look so good after everyone saw his stuff. By over exposing himself Obama the orator has proven to everyone he only has one pitch and that's a change up.
Getting back to Sarah Palin, many of us wish she would run but even if not a candidate we know she will be a formidable force in the next election. She predicted the downgrade and everyone laughed. No one is laughing now. Maybe she reads Tarot cards, maybe she has a crystal ball or maybe she channels Ronald Reagan. Whatever it is I hope she doesn't stop.
