Kerry Worries Liberals

Who would have thought that John Kerry would engender so much angst among liberals. He hasn't done anything yet but liberals worry about his appointment to the Congressional Super Committee. They worry that the Senator, who has a lackluster career, will fancy himself a sort of John McCain who is always willing to reach across the aisle and stick it to us. Reaching an agreement is too important to Kerry, or so the argument goes.

“Like President Obama, Kerry is fatally attracted to the notion of a grand bargain, sacrificing cuts in Medicare and Social Security in exchange for increased revenues to reduce long term deficits. And he is simply wrong-headed about what the nation must do in order to get the economy on track,” said Robert Borosage, co-director of Campaign for America’s Future, a progressive advocacy group.

Maybe I have been too hard on Kerry but I doubt it. He did propose the Obamacare tax on Cadillac medical insurance plans that the unions hated and he did vote for the welfare reform bill that Clinton signed in 1996 declaring "The era of big government is over."
