The road not taken

There are some pretty incredible photos over at the Daily Mail of a Japanese road that was utterly destroyed in the recent events and the way it looks now, six days later. If you haven't seen it, it's worth a trip over there.
If you've ever waited for a road repair around here (or other states), you know it's months, if not up to a year, to repair a road like this, including all the fat guys standing around watching each other not work.
  Daily Mail:

The picture of gaping chasms in a Japanese highway demonstrated the power of the March 11 earthquake.
Now the astonishing speed of reconstruction is being used to highlight the nation’s ability to get back on its feet.
Work began on March 17 and six days later the cratered section of the Great Kanto Highway in Naka was as good as new. It was ready to re-open to traffic last night.

  One word: union.
