Kasich gives state of the state speech

  Well, he's sure rattling some cages, next up the nursing home lobby and prison guard sector. Toledo Blade has a pretty interesting article about his speech and the heckler in the peanut gallery as the governor spoke, entitled "You ain't seen nothin' yet," an obvious attempt to ratchet up the anxiety index.
  The Governor talked about Lake Erie as the "jewel of Ohio", about money going to education, about changing the way we deal with the elderly. (Hopefully that won't include denial of medicine and treatment, in keeping with the UK, Berwick, Obama philosophy.)

With hundreds of protesters making their voices heard from the Statehouse Rotunda and others interrupting the speech inside House chambers, Gov. John Kasich used his first State of the State address to encourage legislators to “not let fear clog your mind.”

In an emotionally charged speech in front of a joint session of the Ohio General Assembly, Kasich laid the foundation for his reform agenda for Ohio that has already sparked fierce protests and could bring more with his first two-year budget proposal, due next week.

Speaking for more than an hour, Kasich said his budget will bring transformational change to state government as it addresses an $8 billion shortfall, citing coming reforms to late-in-life health care, prison sentencing, and education, among other areas.

“If you’ve seen a lot of change in these first seven weeks, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet,” Kasich said, drawing a standing ovation from Republican lawmakers and a few catcalls from the House chamber’s corners.

  While there were lots of hecklers, only about 40 tea partiers were there, presumably because they, uh, WORK for a living and have no union money to fall back on if they miss work.
