Surrounded by fools

The dust settles and fools in the escapade are revealed: Panetta, the head of the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States, watched CNN to get updates on the Egypt crisis, which ended up making Dear Leader look like an *amateur*. Calls for firing have ensued.
How's this for a headline? "Losing patience, Obama challenges Egypt's leaders." Because it's all about HIM, right? He's IMPATIENT and needs Mubarak to STEP DOWN. Surprise! He's not doing what The One wants!
  From Yahoo:
Showing deepening dismay, President Barack Obama is questioning whether Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's promised transfer of power has any credibility or meaning. As a defiant Mubarak stayed in office, Obama challenged the autocratic Egyptian government to explain its path toward democracy to its people and the world.
I dunno. I don't know much about foreign policy but this whole mess sure doesn't seem the right way to handle to me, the observer.
Then our Director of National Intelligence claims that the Muslim Brotherhood isn't violent. Uh huh. You remember our DNI. He's the one who didn't know about the terrorist plans in London.
I'm all for cutting the budget, but, um, let's not cut our field operatives as the world grows more dangerous.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, more "mainstream" publications continue to print absurd satirical pieces as fact. This from Weasel Zippers:
Yesterday it was US Weekly. Today TIME falls for a blatantly obvious satire piece about Sarah Palin wanting to deport “spicy Latin princesses” Christina Aguilera for messing up the national anthem during the Super Bowl. Is their hatred for all things Palin that blinding? The answer is apparently, yes.
Then there's the whole NY Times falling cows thing.
On a more devious level, we have our Department of JUSTICE refusing to answer FOIA requests from the political opposition. What's a Department of JUSTICE for, one might ask?  J Christian Adams at Pajamas Media:
Eric Holder’s Justice Department has even politicized compliance with the Freedom of Information Act. According to documents I have obtained, FOIA requests from liberals or politically connected civil rights groups are often given same day turn-around by the DOJ. But requests from conservatives or Republicans face long delays, if they are fulfilled at all.
The documents show a pattern of politicized compliance within the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division. In particular, I have obtained FOIA logs that demonstrate as of August 2010, the most transparent administration in history is anything but. The logs provide the index number of the information request, the date of the request, the requestor, and the date of compliance.
Hey, I'd say we're in good hands, wouldn't you?
