The Twinkie Apocalypse is upon us

Ok, so I'll admit it. I rushed to Kazmeier's yesterday to buy my beloved Hostess cupcakes and Ho-Hos even though I pretty much avoid gluten but anywho my freezer has some new occupants which will be doled out sparingly the next few weeks.
The teenage bagger said, "Whoa. This is, like, the best bag I've packed all day." I felt rich and very, very wise.
You've probably heard about it already, the demise of the original brand Twinkies, because it's been on all the stations, including ESPN, although what the heck Twinkies have to do with sports, I'm not sure, except I'm pretty sure Moochelle doesn't want you to eat them.
Of course, we all know that secretly Moochelle is hiding behind her couch at the White House snarfing down HoHos as fast as she can, ready to adapt with another boob belt that will hide her, um, assets, throwing the New York Times fashion editor Robin Givhan's focus on Moochelle's fabulous arms instead of her huge can.
If you're desperate, you can wander over to eBay and find Twinkies for about 5 times what they went for yesterday. Or twenty bucks. Or ten bucks. Or whatever the market will bear.
Until, of course, China buys the brands and recipes and floods the markets with solar panels cupcakes, Twinkies and HoHos.
And we all KNOW what great quality control CHINA has.
So maybe they'll expand the brand to include, you know, like, Twinkies fingers (follow that link at your own risk) or something.
NOTE: I've been trying to staying away from the whole end of the universe death of America thing everyone's doing and only post positive stuff.
This resulted in no post yesterday.
Though all is good and the weather's great. Great.
If you're in end of the universe death of America mode that so many of my friends are, you might avoid Rush et al trying to keep the Republican party from bolting into the Leftist corral of leaving the door open to heat the outdoors and buying the love of the masses with cheap cologne.
If you're accustomed to listening to talk radio and not quite ready to listen to 8 hours of Christmas music, you'll definitely be going through talk radio withdrawal.
I advise downloading free podcast by Red Eye Radio, who deal with politics but also interesting cultural essentials like the Twinkie Apocalypse.
Also Ravi Zacharias is, well, magnificent.

  1. $2.64 a box at Meijers this afternoon. New, and last, shipment hit the shelves around 4:00 PM. When those are gone, they are gone -- until, of course, someone buys the name and recipe and starts producing them again...

  2. I'm thinking Mexico instead of China. Maybe Twinkle Bell kiosks or something.
