Issa: SOPA Dead in the House

Republican Congressman Darrell Issa and Democratic Senator Ron Wyden hope to kill SOPA and its Senate counterpart Protect IP. Issa says SOPA is dead in the House. Issa and Wyden have proposed legislation that would allow the International Trade Commission to investigate digital imports, or downloads, of counterfeit goods. The ITC could issue cease and desist orders against foreign web sites. This legislation is far less of a threat to internet freedom than Protect IP/SOPA.
In addition to Wyden, Sens. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) and Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Reps. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), John Campbell (R-Calif.), Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas), Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.), and Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) have all signed on to the discussion draft. See more here and here.
