Thoughts on the mosque

The proposed NYC mosque, which Rush referred to as the "Hamasque," has stirred up such a firestorm that all politicians are being queried as to where they stand on the issue. It's a tricky question, since it is such an emotional one at this point.
Nancy Pelosi's comments are remarkable; it is disturbing how quickly these people (the ruling class) become dictatorial and fascist in their approach to the "small people."   Oh, she supported investigating who's funding the mosque, but only in conjunction with investigating the people who are opposing the mosque. Her statement available at the Washington Times:
We agree with the ADL that there is a need for transparency about who is funding the effort to build this Islamic center.  At the same time, we should also ask who is funding the attacks against the construction of the center.’
No one is being paid to oppose the mosque. Perhaps grass roots movements are beyond the grasp of Ms. Pelosi, since she and her ilk seem to have a need to beat the union bushes to get anybody to turn out for her causes. Again, it was demeaning how quickly Pelosi accused citizens of being "paid" to generate enthusiasm for their cause.
Scott at Powerline seems a little too eager to confess to the government his opposition to building the mosque:
I confess. I have opposed the Ground Zero Mosque, but I haven't taken any money for it. I have also tried to gin up opposition to it, though without taking a plug nickel in return. Please believe me. I'm a volunteer!
I have also disparaged President Obama's support of the Ground Zero Mosque at the White House iftar dinner on Friday night. You might want to look into why President Obama backtracked on his support on Saturday before he sent his information minister out to support it again on Sunday. There's something fishy there, don't you think?
This heavy fist isn't singular to Pelosi, as Scott notes. Linda Douglass was fielding emails to the White House regarding anyone who showed opposition to the health care bill.
  Huh.
Funny how easily news people go from interpreting reporting the news to ruling helping Obama govern.
It's also funny how intolerant these people all are when it comes to anybody else's point of view.
As Rush pointed out today, isn't Harry Reid being intolerant by suggesting the mosque not be built at that location?
And aren't the imam and the mosque group terribly intolerant of the points of view of others when it comes to building a so-called community center that is supposed to unify?
It's pretty obvious, at this point, that this community center isn't about unification at all.
It isn't about needing a place to worship for Muslims since there are some 100 mosques in the NYC area.
It isn't about freedom of worship since no one objects to Muslims worshipping.
  So what is it about?
Well, that's pretty obvious to all of us who object to it.
