9/11: Get over it

Ibrahim Hooper says the decision to build a mosque near Ground Zero is just a "business decision."
Bob Beckel says at some point New Yorkers need to "get over 9/11."
Don't bother to find out where the money for the mosque, a "religious" endeavor, is coming from.
Don't worry that Muslim extremists use our respect for mosques as places to hide soldiers, weaponry and bombs.
Don't think about the people who jumped from the towers on that day. Don't think about the flames, the smoke, the air that was thick with human remains.
Don't worry if you find bones from victims to this day.
Don't worry about wahhabism. Wahhabism is extremely intolerant but we ourselves should be judged on our....tolerance.
Don't worry about jihad. Don't worry that you must accept Islam or be reduced to dhimmitude and extra taxes or die in many Muslim countries.
That might be coming down the road but only for our children. Not for us. Maybe.
Are the liberals who support these ideas human? Do these people feel anything? Do the people who say these things care about real people in real lives?

    Yes, we are human.

In my experience, usually the need to dehumanize those with whom one disagrees indicates fear, ignorance and hatred as underlying motives.

Perhaps not, in this case, but I would interested in learning what motivates the person who wrote that assertion.

  2. Just because something CAN be done, doesn't mean it SHOULD be done. Take, for example, the mosque project. This building was actually hit on 9/11. It is part of the attack on New York. Yet those pushing the mosque refuse to acknowledge the insensitivity and hurt that this project is causing to people who oppose it.
The comment about being human isn't meant to dehumanize liberals; the comment's purpose was to illustrate the disconnect that so many elite liberals have when it comes to understanding and showing sensitivity to the opposition.
Honestly, radical Islam's influence is pernicious and punishing. The whole concept of wahhabism is antithetical to western civilization. Discrimination of women? Vicious treatment of homosexuality? A tiered society in which males, particularly strong and powerful ones, rule over others, cutting the noses from teenagers and trying to poison students and their teachers?
Look around. If New Yorkers have any suspicion that this attitude is behind the mosque project, they have every right to reject it.
Sensitivity? Why aren't these people being sensitive to those who ARE fearful, for good reason, where the funds originate for this project? Most likely the funds will, you KNOW, originate from the very country of origin of most of the bombers.
We can't have a CROSS on a CHURCH but we are restoring MINARETS in Middle Eastern countries with tax dollars?
    I DON"T THINK SO.

  3. I also wanted to thank you for your comments and your lack of hysteria. It's quite refreshing.
