So it appears Governor Strickland of Ohio decided to accept stimulus funds which eventually ended up creating stimulus jobs in El Salvador.
There are so many things wrong with this on so many levels.
Why can't Americans create companies in which employees can be paid a reasonable wage to do things like operate a call center?
(The call center was for all the government funded rebates on appliances the government was hoping we'd buy as in the auto stimulus. No comment on that.)
Why do projects like this have to cost so much that other countries can do it more cheaply?
While Strickland, who seems to be a nice enough person, may not have known who ended up getting the contract, someone in the chain of command should have known where those government funds went. What does this say about layers of government?
Do the people in charge have no responsibility for where these funds go? Who's responsible?
And if government stimulus funds can go to so many ridiculous, non-productive jobs that did not put Americans to work, let's imagine what government health care will be like when 159 new departments (and more) are created just to administrate it? How many sub-level departments will be created?
More and more and more will never be enough.
And since everyone, everyone goes on Medicare at the age of 65, what the heck is going to happen when the 80 million baby boomers need health care? Is there a "senior citizens" division for health care, because there sure are two "minority health" offices and "women's health" offices. Read over at Cleveland Plain Dealer:
