Did you watch the WHCD last dinner? You didn't miss much if you didn't. Leno wasn't funny. The gratuitous attacks against Sarah Palin were ridiculous. This is a private citizen, not even a politician, at this point, but Jay really showed his colors.
While there are reports that the White House reporters are disillusioned with Obama (see Politico, who were ripped last night by The One), you sure couldn't tell last night as they, squeezed like sardines into a room, threw their heads back and laughed open mouthed at everything The Adored One said. Politico is obviously wrong. In return, The Adored One lifted his head proudly as he waited in response to the laughter, and blinked. And blinked and blinked and blinked, a habit that emerges when he thinks he's being really cool and should be admired.
Personally I think it's tasteless, this WHCD. When you read about the secret meetings the NYT has with the White House and the disrespect the WH shows to reporters and obviously reveals to the public, you really wonder how anyone can consider the press corps (corpse) as to be anything BUT objective, investigative or disinterested in the outcome of their stories.
Many of the news organizations represented there are broke, cutting back drastically on budgets and staff, which puts them in the position of being supplicants to the government, like every other industry that's going broke. So what will happen? Will the news media want government bailout money?
