Obama's No Reagan

Jonah Goldberg has a great article in USA Today. We all knew that team Obama wants to mimic Ronald Reagan. Reagan and Obama both inherited an economy in shambles, both lost seats in the mid term elections, and Reagan went on to be reelected. The Democrats only picked up 26 House seats and no Senate seats against Reagan so the comparison is already wearing thin. Goldberg doesn't go there in his article but what I find honestly amusing about liberals and team Obama is they seem to think that Reagan had this bag of tricks and if only Obama could mimic Reagan all would be well. Read Daniel Hannon's remarks in the previous post:

"It is easier to perceive the heroism of leaders long past. Washington and Jefferson have assumed an almost Homeric quality which familiarity denies their more recent successors. Yet, in a list of the greatest US presidents, I would put Reagan at the head."

Hannon ranks Reagan ahead of Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln. Maybe that's a little overdrawn but, my God, would anyone even mention Obama and Washington in the same breath? Will future generations know of anything Obama said aside from "Hope and change"? Will they solemnly intone it as they do; "Mr Gobachev tear down this wall"? Ronald showed more poise with a bullet in his chest than Obama could muster at a state of the union speech. If Obama wants to imitate Reagan let him. As The Gipper once said "Go ahead, make my day".
