NHS: You need to ring America

Over at Daily Mail is a particularly sickening piece about a child who needed treatment in England which the NHS was unable and unwilling to provide because of financial restraints. Remember that one of the goals of government health care is restricting who gets treatment based on a QALY-Quality of Life analysis, into which insignificant young and older patients are not considered worthy of treatment. Read it and hope that the courts can stop what's coming here:

The NHS has one low-powered proton radiotherapy machine, but it can treat only eyes, not brains.
‘The head of oncology told us very candidly: “You need to ring America.” ’
NHS funding was proposed for Ruby’s trip, but this chance was snatched away, says Martin.
‘There is an experimental project to send children abroad for this treatment, but we were then told the team would not fund our trip because Ruby’s survival chances were too low.

  1. People in the UK are not prevented from having private health care. Just like in the US your insurance policy cannot cover all ailments nore can the NHS. The current incumbent PM was heavily realiant on the NHS for his sons care.

I wonder if Sarah Palin recieves any welfare aid?
