And the grab continues

Desperate to cling to their power, dems are pushing a huge bill that would grab land and water all across the country, including the Great Lakes. From Politico:

House Natural Resources ranking member Doc Hastings (R-Wash.) – who is in line to chair the panel in the next Congress – pushed back last week at any attempt to quickly pass what he deemed "a Frankenstein" bill.

“This omnibus lands bill will have significant impacts on American jobs, our economy and our nation’s energy, environmental and land-use policies,” he wrote to House Democratic leaders Thursday. “Such a significant bill should not be hastily pushed through Congress without thoughtful and careful consideration.”

  Over at CNS they're reporting that the FCC is pushing for more government control of the air waves. What are the value based criteria for judging who's making the grade, according to the government? Well, of course, DIVERSITY is a main goal, and that means everybody the government decides is acceptable. Points of view are not important; color of skin is. Considering that talk radio is the last stand against liberalism, you can bet they'll be after it. 
  Rush mentioned this today; he did not seem intimidated by it at all, suggesting that there would be such an uproar they'd never get it done. Also he said there are so many other outlets now that there are other options beyond the control of the FCC. He's probably referring to satellite radio, as many successful hosts have gone there, but their service is absolutely abysmal, not cheap and why wouldn't the FCC try to control them eventually too? After all, this used to be a capitalist country.
  January can't come fast enough.
  You'll also note that they (Big Brother) do not want newspapers and television stations to have the same owners. Guess who they're after there? And what about all the other combination owners? You can guaran-da#$n-tee they won't be after them. CNS:

"If a station passes the Public Value Test, it of course keeps the license it has earned to use the people’s airwaves," Copps said. "If not, it goes on probation for a year, renewable for an additional year if it demonstrates measurable progress. If the station fails again, give the license to someone who will use it to serve the public interest." 

  Note the idea of VALUE--value based on governmental determinations, just like the government is establishing a VALUE based criteria for end of life care. It's called QALY, and if you're old or young, you're not worth as much as those in between, unless, of course, you're a politician. 
  On a related note, the health care plan so adored by Obama's Obamacare advisor is in deep trouble, a harbinger of things to come if Obamacare is not repealed. Patients are dying in British hospitals, not only because of substandard care, nurses who do not speak English, but also because there's no one to actually feed patients too weak to feed themselves. Read at the Daily Mail:

The number of patients becoming malnourished in hospital has doubled in just three years.

Official figures show that a record 13,500 patients fell victim to some form of nutritional deficiency last year.

Most are frail and elderly pensioners who are simply ‘left to starve’ because they are too weak to feed themselves.

Concern is mounting among campaigners and relatives that nurses are now too busy to carry out basic duties of care, such as helping the most vulnerable to eat and drink.
