Sour jokes at the expense of others
So usually at the White House Correspondents Dinner, the President makes fun of himself. Not so this year, with the great narcissist in office. He takes one lame observation about himself (his ratings are down, which is true) and then moves on to everybody else: Bush, Steele, McCain, anyone who is his "enemy." What fun. I was wondering why the Jonas Brothers were even though; though many celebrities attend the WHCD, it's pretty obvious that the Jonas Brothers don't fit the mold of your usual adoring sycophants that attend such things. So I have a suspicion (what do I know?) that perhaps they were invited specifically for the joke about The One's daughters. Not to be cruel, but the President's daughters aren't exactly, um, marketable, so the joke that the Jonas Brothers were after them was pretty far off base. Apparently it didn't go over well with them either. Over at Gateway Pundit:
President Obama’s joke about the Jonas Brothers was no laughing matter to one of the nation’s most popular boy bands.
The Jonas boys were among the celebrity guests attending the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, D.C.
During his remarks, President Obama delivered zingers about Sarah Palin, John McCain, birthers, and even the Jonas Brothers.
“The Jonas Brothers are here,” the president said. “Sasha and Malia are huge fans. But, boys, don’t get any ideas. I have two words for you – predator drones.”
The quip drew laughter from the audience, but the brothers Joe, Kevin and Nick were not among them, according to the Washington Examiner.
The guys apparently took offense to the suggestion they might hit on underage girls.
“Seriously, we’re not pedophiles,” Nick told the Washington Examiner.
