Courier jobs? Avoiding the post office? Seriously?

So let me get this straight.
Our unemployment rate is 8.5% and we're supposed to celebrate.
The increase in jobs was couriers running packages and mail around town.
  At Christmas.
Soooo basically people were avoiding the Post Office by sending things through couriers and that boosted jobs and we're supposed to celebrate?
The nation added 200,000 jobs in December in a burst of hiring that drove the unemployment rate to its lowest in almost three years. The figures raised hopes that the economy might finally be healthy enough to power an even stronger job market.
BUT....
but there are still reasons to be concerned that economic growth is not fast enough -- mainly the too-high 8.5% unemployment rate and the fact that about 42,200 of the 200,000 new jobs created in the month appear to be temporary courier positions.
AND
But the nation still has 6 million fewer jobs that it did in December 2007, when the recession began. Economists forecast the nation will add 2.1 million this year.
The unemployment report was the first to be released since Republicans across the country began voting to determine a candidate to face President Barack Obama this fall in an election that will turn on the economy.
So I'm no expert at all this, but does anybody think maybe it's normal for the economy to add some jobs at Christmas?
And courier jobs just might not be the most ideal jobs in the nation?

  1. If you notice in urban areas, couriers make delivery by bicycle, while in rural area they use cars. Most of the courier jobs are part time basis and used as a secondary source of income.
