We do not let FEAR rule our lives

Let's face it. The 24/7 news cycle sucks, big time, especially when your side of the argument lost. I have many friends who refuse to watch FNC, refuse to listen to Rush or any other talk show host and who have generally checked out of the process for a while.
Talk show hosts like Rush et al have been pretty depressing, continually railing against what's going on with the morons in DC, both Dem & Repub.
FNC runs repeated panels of dimwits talking about the "fiscal cliff fiscal cliff fiscal cliff" ad nauseum and have banished Karl Rove and Dick Toes Morris from extensive appearances. I'm so sick the phrase I can't stand to hear it again.
If you can bear to turn into CNN, you might be lucky enough to see the extraordinarily clever and amusing Kathy Griffin kiss Anderson Cooper's crotch or, alternately, Anderson Cooper kiss POTUS's....well, you get the picture and admittedly I'm getting too graphic here.
  It's just all so....depressing.
Dr. Helen, Instapundit's wife, speculates that the reason conservatives are more despondent after Obama's re-election than Leftists were after W's, in addition to the terrible economy, is that the media constantly, repeatedly and viciously stab at the heart of conservatism and its proponents, ridiculing conservatives as racist thugs who haven't much of a brain in their heads and who, if they were morally enlightened, would surely convert to Leftism, which is looking more and more like communism these days.
I would gently suggest to Dr. Helen that there is more to it than that, especially for Christians.
What we are seeing in the current political climate is, to some of us, the end of days and a fulfillment of the Book of the Revelations.
Sure, that sounds apocalyptic but, if we were to admit it, it is what we fear.
Who could have predicted the slavish drones who literally bow down and worship such a flawed, selfish, greedy ignorant individual as Barack Hussein Obama who, because of his stupidity, cannot the anti-Christ.
It almost makes him more difficult to watch since he IS so flawed.
Most of us have worked lifetimes to get where we are and are horrified to see the Fed printing trillions of dollars devaluing the dollar to mere paper, the government handing out money and putting new refrigerators, cars, phones and furnaces in selected individuals' homes, even while those same individuals prance to the grocery to trade government money for prime rib while the rest of us think twice before we buy hamburger.
Now that I've fallen into my own 24/7 depression trap, let me back up and say that succumbing to this deep hole is not only not healthy, not productive but also not biblical.
All these structures---the media's constant drumbeat that YOU are stupid---the Leftists' unremitting drive toward communism and their control over our lives---Barack Hussein Obama's mockery of YOU and your ideals---the conviction among liberal elites that we foist off our debt on the young--are meant to cause FEAR.
  Nothing but FEAR.
And FEAR is the way they control the people.
The exhilaration of the approach to the election as we realized we may be closing in on a win has receded to being overwhelmed with grief, anxiety and FEAR.
Indeed our culture--the first, really--is being drenched day and night with negative, pornographic, obscene, immoral, sensuous, greedy imagery day after day. This is on the radio, the internet, the television, Hollywood, literature (or whatever they're passing off as literature these days). The culture is saturated with assaults on our sensibilities.
Yet even in this, we are admonished to not be afraid, either of what's happening or what's to come.
The Scriptures repeat this same message, over and over: Fear not
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. Isaiah 43:1
I was wondering how I'd feel now if our side had won the election. Would we lapse happily back into the lives we've so carefully built for ourselves, still politically determined but convinced the world would right itself now?
Would we return to our family lives, occasionally returning to Tea Party meetings, but not really intent on changing the course of our country?
Yet now we hear hoots and hollers about the state of conservatism and Republicans and lots of speculation about how mean anyone is who tries to cut the enormous debt this country is accumulating.
And Republicans melt every time they are challenged. They cannot and do not play the game the way Leftists do.
And FEAR is a tool that the Left uses against us.
There are reasons to be hopeful.
A closer examination of the three key assertions Cillizza makes to support his claim that the movement "lies in tatters" shows that, to the contrary, the movement is well poised to succeed in the 2014 mid-term elections. From there, it will be positioned to return a supporter of constitutionally limited government to the Presidency in 2016, the first time the Oval Office will have had such an occupant in twenty-eight years.
But the really telling criticism cuts to the heart of what is wrong with the Leftist agenda. It also, and not incidentally, touches on an oft-noted but insufficiently explored fact: that Lefts tend to be dour people with no laughter in their hearts.
Why do they tend to be dour people with no laughter in their hearts?  Because they regard life as a zero-sum game.  That is, in Mr. O’Rourke’s analogy, they believe the good things in life is like a box of pizza.  There is only so much to go around, and once that last wafer of pepperoni is scarfed down that’s it, no more dinner.
  •   Barack Hussein Obama will wear out his welcome, what with his profligate selfishness and spending, jetting millions of dollars of fuel out the rear end of Air Force One just to go back and forth on vacation in Hawaii. He can bitch all he wants that he's worried about the environment, but when he and his wife jet around the world several times just to go on vacation, there's no denying that the rules he wants to set into place are not for himself or his friends but for YOU. As money runs out, that will dawn on even the interminably dumb.
  •   Spending $1.4 billion on one family tends to get on the nerves on the unemployed, even if unemployment has been extended another year.
  • At some point, young people are going to figure out that they are the ones who will be paying for the fiscal mess politicians have created. For years and years and years.
  •   There will be consequences for what Leftists are doing fiscally and those consequences will be fewer jobs, no prosperity and a general stagnation. Powerline:
But what happens now that Obama has gotten his way? It will soon become apparent that the fiscal cliff deal, including precisely the tax increases that Obama has been demanding for four years, makes hardly a dent in the deficit. At best, it will reduce the deficit by five or six percent. We will continue to run up deficits of close to $1 trillion a year, and the national debt will continue to grow, as Obama has always intended. This fact can’t be hidden; it will be reported. Journalists who have pulled their punches in the past because they wanted Obama to be re-elected will now begin to ask, what are we going to do about the deficit and the debt? At some point, perhaps sooner rather than later, interest rates will begin to rise, at which point the debt issue will become a crisis. And Republicans will say: we told you so.
The Democrats will have only three choices: they can try to raise taxes on the “rich” even higher. But raising them to 100% wouldn’t deal with the deficit, even if you assume all those rich people are willing to work for free. The second option is to restrain federal spending. The Democrats would rather die than do that. The third option is to try to raise taxes on all those millions of Americans who aren’t rich. That is what the Democrats will do once the moment arrives when they can no longer ignore the trillions of dollars in debt they are inflicting on our children. That will be, politically, a very bad moment for the Democrats and a very good one for the Republicans, who can offer the alternative of less spending and who will have been proved right with respect to the biggest policy debate of recent years.
All of this is another way of saying that, with the Democrats’ BS about raising taxes on the rich out of the way, we can have a rational debate about the country’s fiscal future.
  •   We've been here before, taxing and weaving and bobbing about, pretending that by punishing the successful we'll actually help the dregs of society, who are more prosperous and fatter than any generation in history. Read this:
TWELVE minutes after the 103rd Congress convened early this year, there was a proposal to repeal the luxury tax on yachts costing $100,000 or more. By the end of the day there were five separate proposals to repeal the tax, including several proposals to repeal the levy on all luxury items covered - yachts, furs, jewelry, planes, and cars.
"The luxury tax has been a miserable failure," said Rep. Bob Stump (R) of Arizona, who wants to eliminate all the taxes.
This was in 1993, when the budget deficit was a mere $300 billion. The deficit is the amount by which the government's total budget outlays exceeds its total receipts for a fiscal year.
But most of all, we are a strong people. It becomes more apparent over time that these are no ordinary forces we are fighting, no flesh and blood but that does not mean we will lose either the fight or the battles.
The call to defend the ideals of this country is something that was issued to many disparate folks across this country. Did we think it would be easy?
  FEAR is not an option.
And as my old coach says, I'm not going to let Barack Hussein Obama (or his ilk) ruin my day or my life.
