Eeyorism of the Left

Wow, it's been a cheerful weekend. Conservatives are wailing about Ron Paul and Mitt Romney.
The Wall Street Occupiers got arrested for whatever.
We find out that those same Occupiers who complain that they can't get jobs will be taking courses in ...themselves.
Addressing the safety risks of fieldwork among protesters, she writes on the syllabus, “I can say with absolute certainty that there is no foreseeable risk in teaching this as a field-base class.”
Later they'll complain again that they're unemployed and nobody wants to spend any time with them.
  For some odd reason.
If they survive the special OWS projects, regardless of the risk.
Then in another bid to destroy jobs, the EEOC has let it be known that you, the employer, may be violating the Americans with Disabilities Act (which has enabled lawyers and the aggrieved to file numerous lawsuits) by requiring a high school diploma if the aggrieved had a disability.
  Washington Times:
Attorney Maria Greco Danaher, of the labor and employment law firmOgletree Deakins, said the EEOC letter means that employers must determine whether a job applicant whose learning disability kept him or her from obtaining a diploma can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation. She said the development is “worthy of notice” for employers.
“While an employer is not required to ‘prefer’ a learning disabled applicant over other applicants with more extensive qualifications, it is clear that theEEOC is informing employers that disabled individuals cannot be excluded from consideration for employment based upon artificial barriers in the form of inflexible qualification standards,” she wrote in a blog post.
One of the concerns raised by this letter is that losers individuals won't be incentivized to attain their diplomas because they can complain that their disability precluded them from finishing.
This could affect education, just as the Viet Nam war led to grade inflation.
And if you were thinking that you were being fairer by not judging people by the color of their skin, you're wrong.
True fairness used to mean that you judge people equally. That you look at individuals and judge them fairly in their capacity, regardless of their race, disability or appearances.
A PhD in Psychology Today exposes the naivete of thinking that people should be judged or evaluated by the quality of their character rather than, well, you know how it goes.
However, colorblindness alone is not sufficient to heal racial wounds on a national or personal level. It is only a half-measure that in the end operates as a form of racism.
Problems with the colorblind approach
Racism? Strong words, yes, but let's look the issue straight in its partially unseeing eye. In a colorblind society, Whites, who are unlikely to experience disadvantages due to race, can effectively ignore racism in American life, justify the current social order, and feel more comfortable with their relatively privileged standing in society (Fryberg, 2010). Most minorities, however, who regularly encounter difficulties due to race, experience colorblind ideologies quite differently. Colorblindness creates a society that denies their negative racial experiences, rejects their cultural heritage, and invalidates their unique perspectives.
Thus we see that no matter what we do, there will always be some means to berate, to denigrate or cry racist of those with whom the perpetually aggrieved disagree.
This is not a world of equality.
This is a world in which excuse after excuse is made for confiscation of goods, of position and of promotion.  Excuses are repeatedly made for hurting others in the most intimate ways possible--by accusing them of nefarious ulterior motives.
Motives which are difficult to disprove but whose taint can color even the most innocuous of situations.
Of course, the high minded echo chamber that develops once the cries of racism (or sexism or prejudice of other kinds, for that matter) are first called makes it impossible to function in the same environment which might have formerly been agreeable.
